TONY SPARANO RETURNS HOME TO RECEIVE CHAPTERS HIGHEST HONOR

IN CAN TRULY BE SAID LOCAL BOY MAKES GOOD IN THE CASE OF THE  CHAPTERS 2012 DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN AWARD WINNER TONY SPARANO.  TONY WAS BORN IN WEST HAVEN AND GRADUATED FROM RICHARD C. LEE HIGH SCHOOL IN NEW HAVEN. HE PLAYED FOOTBALL AT LEE FOR 2009 DISTINGUISHED AMERICAN AWARD WINNER DR. LEROY WILLIAMS. TONY THEN PLAYED FOOTBALL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN, BEFORE COACHING AT BU AND RETURNING TO UNH AS HEAD COACH. HE LED THE CHARGERS TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN 1997. FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS TONY HAS BEEN COACHING IN THE NFL, INCLUDING A FOUR YEAR STINT AS HEAD COACH OF THE MIAMI DOLPHINS. HE IS NOW THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR OF THE NEW YORK JETS AND HE WILL BE RETUNING HOME ON MARCH 30 TO RECEIVE THE CHAPTERS HIGHEST HONOR.
